Fairmont State University had its very first Sisterhood Week from April 15-19. There were three participating sororities: Alpha Sigma Tau, Delta Zeta, and Delta Xi Omicron (us)! I think it went very well considering it was the first one. Here is a list of the activities:
- Monday 15th
- Wear letters all day
- Tuesday 16th
- Harlem Shake
- Lip Sync
- Cornhole
- 3-Legged Race
- Face Painting
- Faculty/Staff Letter Campaign
- Wednesday 17th
- Canstruction
- Children’s Hospital Card Campaign Shifts
- Thursday 18th
- Egg/Spoon Race
- Orange Relay
- Hoola-Hoop Contest
- Water Volleyball
- Cardboard Boat Race
- Friday 19th
- Scavenger Hunt Shifts
I think all the sororities did a great job! I know this definitely helped ΔΞΟ bond as a sisterhood. That week started with an official kickoff at the TBI Benefit Bowl…which we happened to win!
On Tuesday during the break we filmed a Harlem Shake video. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m a little afraid…oh well. I’m sure it’s awesome! We dressed up, crazier than our normal selves haha!
I think we look quite dashing, don’t you? On Wednesday we spent the day can-structing!
We donated all of our cans to the on-campus food bank, aptly named The Nest. I think they were quite pleased with everyone’s donations. Thursday was probably my favourite day. We played water volleyball, winning 2 out of 3 games. AND debuted the maiden voyage of our very own cardboard boat, the S.S. Teddybear
Unfortunately, Teddy capsized shortly after entering the water, but our passenger and captain kicked her way to the other side of the pool. Securing the fact that we did finish and she was in the boat! On Friday some of our sisters rushed around Fairmont completing a picture scavenger hunt.
All in all Sisterhood Week was a blast! We bonded as a chapter and with the other sororities in some healthy competition, and we even did some community service while at it! A success in my book, definitely!
